In October, our AdvoKids program celebrates Indigenous Peoples’ Day by learning about those who originally inhabited the land LICM sits on. Participants will focus on learning about the Indigenous people of Long Island (the Island of Shells), the Shinnecock tribe, then create a turtle craft, an important part of the story of this Indigenous tribe.
Want to know more? Prepare for today's AdvoKids by learning about LICM's Land Acknowledgement.
"AdvoKids” is a monthly series focusing on children learning what it means to be an advocate for themselves and others. Adults will learn how they can support their child’s self-advocacy efforts, which promote confidence, resilience and empathy.
This is a drop-in program. Stop by between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to participate.
