Positions

Birthday Party Host

Duties & Responsibilities:

Greeting birthday families and their guests
Implementing party activities and demonstrations
Encouraging children to participate
Serving party food and cake
Party set-up and clean-up.

Job Qualifications:

Experience working with children and caregivers is a plus.
Experience with children’s birthday parties, sales or education a plus.
Experience in a cultural organization a plus.

Required Skills:

Have the desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent customer service and sales skills
Demonstrate attention to detail and creativity.
Possess excellent oral, written, presentation and organizational skills.
Be a self-starter who can take direction and contribute ideas.
Must be able to work well on their own while still being a team-player.
Must exhibit a positive, “can do” attitude.
Must possess excellent “people” skills and the ability to work effectively with employees at all levels within the organization and individuals outside the organization.

Work Schedule: Part Time – 7-21 hours per week (primarily evening and weekend); In-person, on-site

Hourly Rate: $18 an hour

Operations Associate

The Operations Associate assists Long Island Children’s Museum employees with day-to-day operations, adjustments to the museum for events, rentals or new programs and exhibits.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Assisting in the setup and cleanup of events including but not limited to moving tables and chairs.
Assisting in the cleaning and maintenance of the Museum, and the Carousel facility, including its components and spaces. This includes removal of trash, boxes, sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping.

Job Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Prior experience working around Children and Families required
Experience in event setup preferred
Experience in cultural institutions preferred
Experience with facility maintenance and cleaning a plus

Required Skills:

Must be able to stand for long periods of time
Must be able to lift 50 pounds
Must be able to use basic hand tools

Work Schedule: Nights and Weekends primarily, weekdays as needed; Per Diem, On-Site

Hourly Rate: Determined by event – starting at $17/hour
