Enhance your summer spirit as you explore at LICM! Children learn through hands-on experiences and use critical thinking skills to solve problems found in everyday life. Using inquiry, creativity and collaboration, students will engage with multi-sensory activities that extend classroom learning.
Self-guided experiences are available Tuesday – Friday beginning at 11:00 am or later with a minimum of 10 children. Reservations are based on availability. All exhibits are open on Self-Guided tours with the exception of TotSpot gallery.
Reservations are required for group rate.
LICM is a popular destination for summer group visits. We encourage groups to book a minimum of one month in advance of their preferred visit date. After reviewing our policies, you can start the reservation process. Our staff will follow up with you to discuss arrangements within five business days.
For guided visits, the Museum provides free admission for one adult chaperone for every three children age five and under, and free admission for one adult chaperone for every five children over age five. For self-guided trips and extended guided visits, all adults and children pay. Membership may not be used.
Qualifying chaperones include: counselors, CITs and accompanying parents. Nurses and 1:1 aides/paraprofessionals are always admitted free of charge when accompanying a group.
Yes. Additional adults will be charged at the rate of $16. The Museum recommends keeping additional adults (above recommended chaperone levels) to no more than five per tour. Too many grown-ups can spoil the fun!
Ask about our “Extend Your Play” option, which provides free time to explore the Museum as long as you wish until the Museum closes. Children will be charged $2 more to extend their visit. Free chaperone pricing does not apply to an extended visit; adult chaperones will be charged $18 for this extended visit.
A 50% deposit is required the day you confirm your trip reservation. The balance is due on the day of your visit. Your balance will be calculated based on the number of children actually attending the day of your visit.
TIP: Because this number may be lower than your original reservation number, we ask that you bring a flexible payment method (credit card, blank check) to handle final payment. The Museum cannot issue rebates for overpayments.
To allow children to fully enjoy exhibits, LICM caps group size at 25 children. If your group has more than 25 children, an additional tour group will be created. Please note, we cannot increase the number of tour groups on the date of your visit.
Unfortunately, no. The extra group can opt for a self-guided tour at the general admission rate. Reduced rates only apply to groups with a confirmed reservation.
LICM will make every effort to accommodate a group arriving late.
LICM accepts cash, check (personal or business), credit card (Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express) and money orders.
Guided tours are 90 minutes in length. Morning (10-11:30 a.m.) and Afternoon (noon – 1:30 p.m.) tour times are available. Tour times are not flexible.
Although we cannot substitute galleries on a guided tour, you can opt to extend your visit to enjoy all the Museum’s exhibits. See Extend Your Play option above.
Self-guided tour reservations can begin at 11:00 a.m. or later and may last as long as the Museum is open (5 p.m.). Please do not arrive earlier than your appointed time.
To accommodate all Museum visitors, self-guided groups will be asked to break into groups of 10 children (maximum) as they tour the Museum with a maximum of 75 visitors at the self-guided tour rate. Self-guided rates apply to a maximum of 75 campers and adults.
Yes, but only vended service is offered here. Advance reservations are required for groups to use the cafeteria; reservations are available to guided tour groups only. A usage fee does apply. To accommodate all Museum visitors, groups that do not have a cafeteria reservation should rotate through the cafeteria in small groups (10 children maximum).
For the safety of visitors with food allergies and sensitivities and to keep the Museum clean, no food or drink is permitted outside the cafeteria.
Parking is free at Long Island Children’s Museum.
Please have an accurate count of all children present and a separate count of all adults present. Based on this headcount, your remaining payment will be calculated and collected.
Facemasks are optional for all field trip participants. We ask all visitors to respect the choices of everyone at the Museum.
