LICM4all reflects our commitment to creating a welcoming Museum where every child and family feels a sense of belonging. We work to remove barriers and create opportunities for children of all abilities to experience the wonder of play, discovery, and imagination.
Friendly Hours
We host monthly Museum time designed for families with children with disabilities. Friendly Hours include alterations to Museum lighting and sound. Pre-registration for this event is required as attendance is limited. Tickets are available the first of each month. Sensory Sensitive Theater Performances require a separate registration.

Sensory Sensitive Theater
*Sensory Sensitive Theater performances and Friendly Hours require separate registration.
Each year, we host several Sensory Sensitive Theater performances. Sensory Sensitive Theater performances welcome children and families with a range of disabilities to enjoy the live theater experience in a comfortable setting that includes lighting and sound adjustments. We recently enjoyed Sensory Sensitive performances (formerly known as Sensory Friendly Theater) including Frederick, Journey to Oz, and Don’t Let The Pigeon Drive the Bus! The Musical!

An opportunity to meet the cast are an exciting feature of all shows at LICM, including sensory sensitive performances.
Sensory Room
This dedicated room provides a respite for children with sensory sensitivities who are feeling anxious or overwhelmed during their visit. The inclusive space includes visual, auditory and tactile resources to create a quiet and calming environment enabling children to self-regulate and return to play.
Assistive Devices
Sensory backpacks, noise reducing headphones, weighted lap-pads, fidget items and printed PCS cards are available for visitors at the Box Office.
Wheelchair Accessibility
The Museum and LICM Theater are wheelchair accessible. Wheelchairs are available at the Information Desk for visitor use throughout the Museum.
Download Before Your Visit
- Visual Vocabulary Cards are used to help those that might need assistance with transitions or communication. Visual Vocabulary cards can also be used for those who prefer to plan their Museum adventures ahead of time.
- PCS (Picture-Communication System) Cards are used to assist those who need help communicating. Our PCS cards feature a number of museum rules and reminders.
One-to-One Aides
We provide one complimentary admission for a licensed care provider who is assisting a paid visitor or member that requires additional assistance during their visit. The care provider/one-to-one aide must provide an employee badge from a licensed facility and a matching photo ID.
