Join us as we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month (September 15–October 15) by exploring salsa! Explore the unique style of salsa music that originated in Cuba and was influenced by Spanish rhythms and jazz. Learn some basic salsa dance steps and make fresh salsa dip to round out the fiesta!

Come “carve” jack o’ lanterns out of oranges and make a delicious fruit cup full of vitamins that will boost your energy during this spooky holiday. Then join us as we work off that Halloween candy.

Learn how to start your day off right by keeping your mouth clean and stretching properly.

Nutritionists recommend eating fruits and vegetables in a variety of colors to get the best health benefits. Come taste a rainbow of fruits as you make a healthy parfait of your own. Then, make a special ribbon streamer with similar color patterns as a reminder to have a balanced diet. Program ingredients: Assorted fruits, yogurt, nut-free granola.

They are constantly moving, which provides them with the exercise they need. Follow us as we act out the natural movements of the animals all around the globe. Pay tribute to the millions of animals that inhabit the planet as you eat nourishing snacks shaped like the wondrous creatures of the land and sky.

National Watermelon Day is August 3, but LICM will continue the celebration at the end of the month. Watermelons are high in Vitamin C and lycopene, an antioxidant that helps prevent cancer. They are also 92% water, which is also good for the body! Have a taste of this nutritious summer fruit, play our count-the-seeds guessing game, and break our watermelon piñata!

Did you have a rough day? Experience the peace that comes with creating and caring for your own Zen rock garden. Zen gardens are an ancient Buddhist tradition, and are used for meditation and contemplation. Paint your own rocks to add to your “dry garden.” Construct a special rake to care for and arrange your landscape. Finish up by learning some basic yoga moves to continue the art of meditation.
